Managing Director

I love meeting with clients and getting involved in projects at the very beginning. I also love getting geeky about business processes!

My last project was Project Managing a Maximo Training and Support roll out for one of our Oil and Gas clients. It was a very enjoyable project which pushed beyond my comfort zone but our client now has a great suite of online learning materials and products to use in the future.

I think I can call myself a runner now, like many others I don’t often feel like it, but once I'm out there it’s the only place I want to be.

The 'building' nature of design and development is most enjoyable to me.

A favourite project was working on our Internal eInduction where I used the new and improved electra branding.

Music is my hobby: Rhythm & blues on the piano and guitar!

I really enjoy the design aspect of my job. Creating graphics to be used in courses is particularly fun and exciting.

Recently I have been designing and creating some interactive demonstration pieces, which showcases a wide variety of work.

Back in my school days I was given the chance to be an extra in the Harry Potter movies, which I quickly accepted!

I really enjoy the new challenges that every day brings. Nothing is predictable in my role, and thinking and acting quickly is required. There is never a dull moment.

I have recently managed a project for a very large software roll out, where almost 2000 users were required to be trained. This involved us creating 25 separate courses to meet the requirements of the users. With dedicated team work we were able to successfully complete the project.

I love to travel and at last count I have been to 32 countries. Perhaps one day I will write my travel guide to the world detailing great places to go and also awful places to avoid!

I enjoy the social aspect of meeting and working with different people, helping them to understand their work processes through effective and engaging training.

I have recently been working in Alberta, training users using Maximo, focusing primarily on supply management. It has been a fantastic and rewarding challenge.

I really enjoy the variety of courses and classes that I facilitate. I meet new people every day and learn just as much from the participants as they do from the class.

I had the opportunity to facilitate a session around a custom built module for Learning and Development. The client is committed to the ongoing development of their people by using this module to enhance learning in the organization.

I travel extensively and have lived on four Caribbean Islands and one country in South America.

I enjoy working with clients to help them find effective solutions to their training needs.

A recent project I worked on involved developing eLearning, writing reference material and finished with on-site training delivery. It was great to work with the client from start to finish, ensuring they received excellent training and resources to further support and enhance their knowledge.

My favorite days are spent on my boat waterskiing with friends and family. Like most Canadians, I try to make the most of those precious hot days in the summer!

I love the IT systems training and coaching we provide at electra. I get a lot of job satisfaction when I see people becoming confident using their new system.

I’ve recently been working on Secondment in Canada, which has been incredible. The training has been fun and challenging at the same time!

I recently ticked two of my dreams off my bucket list: Skiing in Canada, which is simply incredible, and playing with Annie Martin & Marie-Andree Lessard (Canadian international beach team) in a pro-am charity volleyball tournament.

I enjoy the flexibility of creating and designing training for clients from initial consultation through to delivery. I find the interaction with participants, sharing insights and learning together while meeting the client's business needs truly rewarding.

Currently, I am learning more about how new clients use Maximo.

In my spare time, I savour many of the outdoor pursuits and adventures that Canada (and the world) has to offer.

I love the variety of my job. I am mainly office based dealing with Finance and Administration for the company which means that I am involved with all our projects. I love being able to analyse data and use it to present information for planning and to improve our processes. I also present some induction IT sessions for clients; I enjoy being able to help new starts find the way through some of the mass of information they are presented with giving them a roadmap to follow in their first few weeks of employment.

I work part time and spend the rest of my time as a volunteer Girlguiding Rainbow leader and as a quilt teacher. What I love is that the skills I learn and use in my work at electra transfer to my personal life and vice versa!

I love helping people. It’s really important to me that clients have a great learning experience and are able to get back to their jobs and be better at it in some way.

I am lucky to have worked on such a variety of projects, giving me a learning opportunity in return. From maintenance, through supply chain to logistics, from time writing to finance – what next I wonder?

My hobbies are travelling, dancing and complementary therapies.

One of my favourite parts of the job is knowledge transfer. It’s a great feeling when you connect with someone and see that they will take something away with them that will make their day easier and more productive.

Knowledge transfer works both ways, the varied projects I have worked on have allowed me to expand my own knowledge across systems, processes and people. What I learn today can be passed on tomorrow.

I play a bit of golf, ride a motorbike and a snowboard, all when the weather permits. I can also regularly be seen driving around the countryside or staring at maps looking for new places to walk my two dogs.

I love meeting and working with a variety of people in different job roles. One of my favourite aspects of my job is the chance to engage with people and work out how to help individuals develop their understanding of their business processes and systems so they feel confident and more effective in their job roles.

The best bit is when you see people you’ve worked with passing on their knowledge to colleagues and the benefit of this type of cross knowledge transfer to the business.

I love most sports, in particular I play tennis and ride horses and I enjoy playing a few instruments which keeps me busy in my spare time.

I’ve enjoyed teaching all kinds of stuff to all kinds of people for almost 40 years. And now it’s actually my job to do that, so what could be better? I love the puzzle of analyzing people’s learning styles and adjusting my teaching to match.

Some folks call me a Maximo evangelist, and that’s okay with me. I consider the most important part of my job to be infusing a passion for quality in my delegates, regardless of the product I’m teaching. If they don’t go back to their workplace and exhort their colleagues to come for training, I’m doing something wrong.

When I’m not training on site, I’m usually to be found studying and practicing Argentine Tango. Sometimes I threaten to teach it to delegates who play with their phones during the course.
