My background is in marketing with previous experience working for a Public Relations agency and a degree in Management with Marketing from Robert Gordons University. I love watching and playing most sports, in particular rugby and football. Team sports can be very social, so it is a great way to meet up with friends whilst staying healthy!
If I could sum up Electra in one sentence I'd say...
“A very welcoming and friendly team that works hard to provide a high-quality service to clients”.
Welcome Andrew, we are so pleased to have you on the team, how has your first few weeks been?
My first few weeks have been brilliant. Everyone has been very friendly and a real effort has been made to make me feel welcome. It has been great getting an insight into the personalities that make Electra so special and I feel very lucky to now be a part of that.
What was it about Electra and the role that made you apply?
Marketing is everywhere you look, on TV, on the internet and even on a simple water bottle. At college I developed a passion for understanding this and therefore it felt like a natural transition to progress onto the Management with Marketing course at RGU.
When the role at Electra was advertised, I did some research into the company, in particular the 3-2-1 and Spotlight interviews shared on LinkedIn and in the Newsletters. These really highlighted the family ethos at Electra. I could tell that there was a great culture and felt as though I knew most of the team before I had even met them.
A keen rugby player, Andrew also volunteers in his local community, here is what he told us:
I have always been involved in charity work from volunteering at a local film club for primary school children to the more physical aspect of laying paths, building bridges and creating a more accessible environment for vulnerable people at Benholm Mill.
This work instilled in me the importance of helping in the community, I find it extremely rewarding and character building. Currently I am part of the Befriender Programme for Cornerstone.
Andrew once met the Italian footballer, Mario Balotelli… on a plane to Miami:
This was the day after they had been knocked out of the world cup in 2014, so safe to say, he wasn’t in the best of moods. I have been really lucky to have travelled a lot, particularly on cruise ships and have visited over 30 countries.
