Recently, Neil Summers and Troy Deck from Electra attended their first conference of many this year at CanMUG in Vancouver. At the event, Troy was able to participate in the “Fireside Chat: Planning for Your MAS (Maximo Application Suite) Upgrade” with several industry-leading experts.
The informal atmosphere and lively audience engagement contributed to very insightful questions and discussions. The personal anecdotes, experiences, and stories, of the speakers made the event memorable and impactful for many. The result was helping participants to begin to think about the process of moving to MAS 8.
From the training and support side, there were a couple of valuable questions and insights.
#1. How should organizations prepare for a MAS 8 implementation?
- Define and determine what success looks like (IT, Leadership, Future State, etc.)
- Planning, Planning, Planning, if you fail to plan, plan to fail.
- Set goals, and expectations. What are the objectives, strategies, and tactics?
- Along with the technical don’t forget about the people (Organization Change Management)
- Leadership, Management, and IT need to engage all stakeholders.
#2. What are some of the best practices related to training and Organizational Change Management (OCM) for companies moving to MAS8?
To start, some of the best practices and planning would be to:
- Creating a sponsor plan.
- Develop a communication plan.
- Create a coaching plan.
- Develop a resistance management plan.
- Make a training plan.
