Returning from the Maximo UK & Ireland User Group (MUG) in Dublin at EY Wavespace, Managing Director Donna McWilliams shares her summary from the event.
Attending the latest Maximo User Group meeting felt like a gathering of friends, who share a passion for Maximo. First up was the networking evening which is a great social event and an opportunity to catch up before a jam packed day of informative presentations, lively discussions and inspiring demos at the EY Wavespace. It is no doubt that everyone left Dublin with new ideas and perspectives. I have outlined my takeaways from the event, showing how these meetups are helping everyone up their game in Maximo. Helen Fisher from BPD Zenith has also written a fantastic account of the event. Presentation 1
Gas Networks Ireland, who had to come up with an Asset Information Improvement solution following an audit which highlighted issues with data.
Problem | Solution | Benefits |
Incomplete Data due to: Asset decommissioned but tech could not request additional work (they were doing this via email / SharePoint) Data missed while entering asset details in register | Data updated and imported back to Maximo Mobile application with offline storage Implemented efficient process for allowing techs to capture new and missing data into the system directly Automated actions in system | Removal of paper or Excel sheets Planned Maintenance updates more efficient 108 Service Requests processed successfully Techs no longer requesting additional work order or uploading Excel sheets on SharePoint |
Favourite quote from this presentation – “IT alone is not enough, it’s all about data”
Presentation 2

Presentation 5
Kelly from Harbour Energy gave a fantastic presentation about their project to Streamline Safety Assurance. As someone who has been training Maximo for over 15 years, I can say I only wish things had been this easy back when we had to train complex methods for reporting on assurance work.
Problem / Requirement | Solution | Benefits |
Need assurance tasks to be displayed on Work Orders Ability to PASS or FAIL Assurance tag Identify easily which Location had failed | Easy for the technician to complete in Maximo No requirement to go into every task to pass or fail Assurance task results available in PowerBI for easy analysis and trending | Offshore verification planning is easier Simple for any Maximo user to search and find (useful during regulatory inspections) Immediate visualisation of failed tasks (from PowerBI report) Positive endorsement from verifiers and regulatory bodies |
