Electra Volunteer Event – Camphill School

The Electra UK Team took a Friday out of the office for a day volunteering at Camphill School Aberdeen.  Camphill School is a local charity supporting children and young people – many with additional support needs – to reach their fullest potential. Learning Consultant, Lorraine Warren shares her perspective on the event and how the team got on.

Our Mission

Should we choose to accept it, was to whitewash the goat’s enclosure.

On arrival at 9.30am, we were welcomed by Charlotte the Volunteer Coordinator, who gave an introduction to Camphill School with a brief presentation.

We were then given our mission, provided with overalls, brushes, rollers and paint and directed to the goat’s enclosure.

We happily painted until it was time for lunch, egged on by the goats themselves, who provided plenty of vocal encouragement. This only served to make the job more enjoyable, providing plenty of laughs throughout.

After lunch, we were given a tour around the surprisingly large grounds, and then back to finish the task.

The Result

Together, we transformed the enclosure into a bright, and welcoming space for Camphill’s beloved goats who are an integral part of the team at Camphill, and who hopefully didn’t mind our singing when the topic of TV theme tunes arose.

Thanks to everyone at Camphill for making us feel part of your team for a day and thanks to the Electra team for making it a day to remember.

If your company can spare a day to volunteer, I would recommend contacting Camphill to organise this, there is so much you can do to help.
