The most rewarding part of my job is transforming the client’s vision into a creative training solution. I enjoy being part of our clients’ learning experiences and helping them to succeed in their careers. Being part of the team at Electra has provided me with an avenue to build on past experience in a genuinely supportive environment.

I love spending time in the mountains. On weekends I can usually be found hiking, biking, or snowboarding somewhere in the Rockies.

For obvious reasons, this year was rather different from previous years, the main difference being that I didn’t return home to Winnipeg. Instead, my girlfriend and I created some new traditions of our own, such as snowshoeing on Christmas morning and skating on a frozen lake for New Year’s Eve.

I previously worked within operations for a transportation company, and it was there that I became interested in learning and development. I became a Corporate Trainer for operations and customer service where I trained everything from soft skills to software applications. From there I moved into the world of instructional design and eLearning development. I then joined Electra where I spent my first 3 months immersed in Maximo. From there I worked on a variety of implementation and training projects and moved into my current role where I now oversee Maximo eLearning development.

I love that every day is different. I enjoy taking detailed information and adapting it into a way that is more digestible to new learners. I appreciate the knowledge and experience my colleagues share, especially while collaborating on projects. I also enjoy training both in-person and virtually. I believe we are now in the golden age of eLearning. Recent events have encouraged the demand for eLearning and virtual training which has accelerated our growth. It’s exciting to be part of such a great team and to watch our eLearning department and company grow.

Because I live so close to the mountains I like to spend as much time as I can outdoors. Day-hiking, snowshoeing, snowboarding, road biking etc. I typically spend my holidays either traveling overseas or going off into the wilderness on a week-long hiking or canoe trip. When I’m not spending time outdoors I enjoy playing games with friends or refinishing furniture. I am currently in the middle of refinishing a set of mid-century Danish chairs which I hope to keep forever.

In my teens and early 20’s, I was a classic car and lowrider enthusiast. My first car was a 1965 Chevrolet Impala. This love of cars led me to start importing different interesting cars from the US to Canada for personal use. I would keep the cars for a little while then sell them at a profit to buy a different car. I eventually turned my hobby into a business by obtaining a dealer’s permit and importing cars for others.
