Having explored the initial two stages of our Change Management methodology (‘Engage’ and ‘Train’), Niamh McIvor now offers insights into the third phase of the Electra process: ‘Sustain’.
Progressing towards the final stage of our methodology, ‘Sustain’, our priority now lies on ensuring the knowledge and newly acquired skills can be retained. This blog will discuss the importance of sustaining knowledge, and how we provide our clients with the necessary skills to do so.

THE IMPORTANCE OF SUSTAINING KNOWLEDGE
While Engaging and Training are vital steps in our service offerings, concluding the learning process here would be insufficient. Ebbinghaus’ forgetting curve alarmingly reveals that 90% of information is forgotten within a month of being taught (Woolliscroft, 2020). Consequently, it would be unsustainable for our client’s long-term objectives to end their training here. This concerning statistic underscores the crucial need for ongoing training resources.
OUR RESOURCES
At Electra, we are committed to your long-term objectives, and as such, have implemented tailored resources and services to counter Ebbinghaus’ retention challenge. Our approach prioritises equipping clients with opportunities to enhance and uphold the knowledge we imparted. This commitment is exemplified through a variety of services.
Quick Reference Cards
To start, a central resource that we provide are Quick Reference Cards. These meticulous step-by-step guides furnish our clients with our training expertise in a visual manner, adeptly guiding them through each process and leaving no room for uncertainty.
Recorded Videos
Additionally, we provide recorded video tutorials, skilfully led by one of our trainers. These pre-recorded sessions elaborate on specific navigations and training sources, providing a visual window into the process. The accessibility of these videos equips clients with the ability to access training resources instantaneously and revisit at their convenience.
Ongoing Training
Ultimately, we recognise that change isn’t a one-time event but an ongoing process that demands nurturing and continuous improvement. This underscores our commitment to maintaining long-lasting relationships with our clients, ensuring that we can aid them in their goals. Thus, while we offer additional materials that clients can use in their own time, we further provide ongoing training, having worked alongside some of our clients for over 13 years. By regularly training new and existing staff, we ensure that the benefits reaped from the training are sustained, and that our clients continually have us as an advantageous resource along their learning journey.
THE IMPACT
Each of these resources and service offerings contribute to a dynamic workforce that thrives amidst ongoing change. As discussed previously, the forgetting curve is an important concern, emphasised through the rapid decline of information retention. Nevertheless, with the assistance of our services, you and your team can access our comprehensive training materials and guides round the clock, effectively mitigating the threat posed by the forgetting curve. As your dedicated partner, our core priority is to aid your learning journey towards excellence. This collectively contributes towards our mission, to improve the productivity of people, processes and systems.
