As we approach our upcoming LPI (Learning and Performance Institute) accreditation, Donna McWilliams (Managing Director) takes the time to reflect on what this process means for us at Electra, and for her personally.
Who are the LPI?
The LPI is a global body dedicated to raising the standards of workplace learning and development. Over the years, the accreditation process has evolved significantly, adapting to new industry standards and expectations. For us, it’s more than just a certification—it’s an opportunity to reflect, take stock, and continuously improve.
A Journey of Evolution
My journey with the LPI began 25 years ago when I first underwent my own training. Back then, it was known as TTIT—Train the IT Trainer. The LPI has always loved its acronyms!
What Does LPI Accreditation Mean to Electra?
For Electra, LPI accreditation is more than a stamp of approval; it’s a benchmark for excellence that we strive to exceed each year. Here’s why it’s important to us:
- Benchmark for Excellence: It sets a high standard that we aim to exceed year on year.
- Global Accreditation: It signifies our commitment to maintaining global standards in learning and development.
- Professional Recognition: It connects us with a respected professional body dedicated to continuous learning.
- Improvement Goals: The accreditation process helps us identify and implement goals for the following year.
- Learning Community: It integrates us into a community of like-minded professionals who are passionate about learning and development.
Personal Reflections
On a personal note, the LPI holds a special place in my heart. They were there at the beginning of my training career, and I’ve grown alongside them.
As we prepare for our upcoming accreditation, I’m filled with a sense of anticipation and excitement. It’s not just about meeting a standard; it’s about embracing a culture of excellence and continuous improvement that will drive us forward in the years to come.
