eLearning is the topic of conversation in today’s business world, used by over 3 in 4 companies. With the growing use of tools such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), a world of exciting opportunities has opened for the future of this industry. Who knows what’s to come next? Join us as we explore today’s top trends in eLearning, from Learning Management Systems (LMS) to Gamification and AI.

Learning management systems

Having seen a significant shift to online learning, 80% of businesses now offer eLearning opportunities. LMSs have become a powerful tool in maintaining training requirements online, using data driven analytics to monitor and control the learning journey. The benefits? Seamless course management, improved learning experiences and a dynamic channel to support a collaborative learner-trainer relationship. Alongside Electra, roughly 90% of businesses use an LMS, and we only see this number growing. Explore the Electra Learning Toolkit here

Gamification

Learning is predominantly a visual experience with users retaining up to 70% more from what they see and do than what they hear. Gamification goes hand in hand with this learning style, used by 70% of Global 2000 companies.

Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) are increasingly popular Gamification trends. These simulated environments allow trainees to learn through realistic simulations, making mistakes in a risk-free environment and above all, engaging through fun and interactive experiences.  Diverse Gamified environments have seen retention rates jump from 20%, using traditional learning, to an impressive 80% with the use of VR. Walmart has discovered the benefits of VR and AR in employee training, from product capabilities to customer scenarios. Is this where the future of eLearning is headed? Artificial Intelligence

Much like the rest of the world, the education industry is being transformed through AI. Its innovative and versatile nature is continuously unlocking new opportunities, such as translating live multilingual conversations, serving as a virtual assistant through problem-solving scenarios, and aiding in content creation. This only scratches the surface of AI capabilities, with activity forecasted to reach $6 billion by 2025 within the education industry.

Whilst we welcome AI as a transformative tool in content creation, we recognize that it should complement, not replace, the creativity and critical thinking skills of our designers. We are curious to hear your take on this. Will you be using AI within your workplace?

The Future of eLearning

From LMS platforms to Gamification and AI, it’s clear the world of eLearning is at the beginning of a new digital age. Although much of this is unknown, for now, we are excited by the emergence of new creative tools that can be used to improve eLearning and are proud to be part of an industry that has reshaped the learning journey.
