Maximo Energy User Forum – Aberdeen, UK

Fresh from presenting at the Maximo Energy User Forum in Aberdeen, Maximo Project Manager Donna McWilliams shares her summary and key takeaways from the event.

The Maximo Energy User Forum at the Palm Court hotel saw a fantastic turnout, with friendly faces and a vibrant community coming together to share knowledge and insights on Maximo and MAS9.

Helen and Sarah from BPD kicked off the day, with Sarah discussing how MAS9 can optimise maintenance costs and reduce OPEX, shifting from reactive to planned and preventative maintenance and outlined the broader benefits of the how MAS supports this.

BPD & IBM Roadmap – Dominic Bramley

Dominic Bramley provided an overview of the IBM roadmap, focusing on:

  • The transition to MAS9
  • Yearly releases every June, with an additional feature release at the six-month mark
  • The integration of AI to enhance speed, ease, and automation, particularly in the work order process

Streamlining Safety Assurance with Maximo – Kelly Morice, Harbour Energy

Kelly Morice detailed how Harbour Energy has leveraged Maximo for safety assurance:

  • Assurance tasks integrated into work orders
  • The ability to pass or fail tasks directly within the work order
  • Assurance tasks incorporated into job plans
  • All assurance task results are available in Power BI reports

Key Benefits:

  • Improved searchability and reporting
  • Positive feedback from HSE teams
  • The system has been in place for a couple of years, enabling meaningful data analysis and trend tracking

New MAS Implementation Case Study – Roy Milne, AssetOne

Roy Milne shared insights into AssetOne’s EAM transformation project at Anasuria, focusing on the use of MAS, inventory implementation in Maximo and asset performance improvements.

Challenges Faced:

  • Legacy data issues
  • Poor data quality
  • Lack of documentation

Solutions Implemented:

  • Process and data optimisation
  • Project design and planning
  • Inventory management implementation
  • System simplification and process ownership by AOC
  • Data migration and cleansing
  • Change management and user adoption

Library Application – Assets and Locations – Menno Hoekstra, BlueWater Energy

Menno Hoekstra took the audience on a journey through his experiences working with Maximo, from version 1.0.1 to 7.6.1.3, with plans to upgrade to MAS this year. He showcased the efficiencies gained through the Library Application:

Usage and Benefits:

  • Performance standards stored as a library file in Maximo
  • Tasks linked via the library file application
  • Locations connected in job plans
  • Controlled tasks and history
  • Consistent logic coding across the system

While some restrictions exist, the benefits far outweigh the challenges, making the Library Application a valuable tool.

My presentation was up next where I talked about Affordable & Sustainable training options for MAS. Give me a shout on donna@electralearning.com for a copy of my presentation.
