Returning from the Facility Management Maximo Users Group (FMMUG) in New Orleans, Managing Director (North America) Allison Quinn shares her summary from the event.
I was fortunate enough to attend this year’s Facility Management Maximo Users Group in New Orleans this October, the perfect time to visit as the temperatures have cooled down a little and oysters are in season.
Maximogroups.org and the steering committee do a great job of bringing the most interesting presenters to share their experience and knowledge in all things Maximo and Tririga relating to facility management and maintenance.
First up was Lisa Barclay and Andy Barnes from IBM who discussed how to streamline processes through Maximo supported by Tririga. Throughout their presentation they shared insights on how to prioritize capital planning for aging buildings, using space planning tools and equipment reservation. For most of the attendees the introduction to the possibilities of these tools ensured some great conversations later in the day.
Victor Miranda of John Hopkins University presented a humorous look at how Maximo is integrated in all Information Systems similarly to a symbiotic food web of living organisms. Each system feeds into others ensuring a free flow of information throughout this higher education organization.
Other presentations included Lacey Lurges of IBM discussing Planning, Scheduling and Dispatching workflows in Maximo and how the enhanced dashboards can improve all aspects of productivity. Edward Neubecker from IBM introduced the Demo Room, a hands-on lab allowing experimentation and immersion in a virtual digital environment with the possibilities of integrations to Maximo.
Mike Popovic of P2Insight presented a case study and their solution for a semi-fabricated aluminum producer and long-time user of Maximo. The implementation of Punchout catalog shopping and Automated order placement provided numerous benefits for supply chain within the organization but also for their maintenance and production teams. This resulted in an overall more productive and efficient organization.
The first day ended with a selection of round table discussions on AI, GIS, Inventory and Procurement, MAS, Mobile, Planning and Scheduling, it was difficult to decide which one to participate in!
On the second day Encore Boston Harbour were presented with the inaugural Maximo Excellence award from FMMUG. This luxury hotel and casino representative thanked the panel and suggested this recognition was due to their successful implementation of Maximo for their requirements in ensuring a quick resolution of all maintenance issues and an overall successful asset tagging and tracking program.
As ever, we are very appreciative of the steering committee who put in a lot of hard work to ensure this year’s FMMUG was so successful. If you haven’t yet attended one of these events, I thoroughly recommend you do.
I’m looking forward to attending next year’s event which is scheduled for June.
See you there!
